Smoking is a habit that many people struggle with today. Although quitting  smoking isn’t easy, it can be done.

First thing you should do is determine in your mind that you really want to quit then set a date. Try to make your quit date no longer than a week or two. Any longer decreases your chance of success.

Telling  friends and family about your decision to quit increase your chances to quit because you will be held accountable.  Ask family and friends that smoke not to do so around you. If they smoke maybe they can join you on your journey.

Secondly, decide if you want to go it on your own or rely on products  on the market. Now days there are many quit smoking products you can choose from. There are patches, hypnotherapy, gums, and pills, just to mentioned a few. They all offer help to those wanting to seriously quit.

Stay active or pick up a hobby. With any addiction, keeping your mind busy with other things replaces the need you might have. Changing your routine is a must. Think about the times you routinely smoke. One such routine might be lighting up when going to the restroom. Instead of lighting a cigarette try lighting a candle (lavender candles gives a calming feeling).

Lastly, remember this is also for your health. Your risk of nicotine associated illness drops dramatically. Wright down your accomplishments and reward your self. Its not easy to drop an addiction but know you have made the best decision.
